President's
Report
Welcome
to the 2011 Football and Netball season, particularly those
of you who are new to our club. Our general committee members
remain the same as in 2010 with the addition of Scooter Kerley
as the Social Committee Rep. We have appointed Shaun Walker
as our A Grade coach and Vaughan Noonan as his assistant. Vaughan
played several years with Walpeup/Underbool where he had much
success both team and individual. As we have up to fourteen
players based in Adelaide Shaun is running trainings twice a
week with players from three other country clubs also attending.
Mark Trowbridge and our reappointed reserves coach Cat Purdie
have been taking home trainings on Monday and Wednesday’s.
Once a month all players train together at Tailem Bend which
have so far been well attended and very worthwhile.
We also welcome Dan Wohling, Shane Agelis and Duane Simon back
to our club, together with new players Joel Lewis, Ben Moffatt
and Ben Lock. These six plus Shaun and Vaughan will add tremendous
skill and experience to our great list of youngsters who battled
manfully last season.
Our
Junior and Senior Colts sides will again be led by the successful
duo of Mo Sherman and Tim Brown and Craig Zerk will continue
his great work with the Auskick kids.
With
most sides recruiting well over the summer I expect this season
to be very competitive and of a higher standard than that of
recent years.
Thank
you to all those, who have taken on roles as committee reps,
managers and many other important positions this year. Without
your support our club wouldn’t run as successfully as
it does.
We
encourage all our past players and members to come along regularly
and support all grades in 2011, which promises to be a very
competitive competition.

A Grade Coach Report
It’s hard to believe that footy is back for another year.
For some it may feel like a long time coming for others it may
feel like we have just finished our summer sports. Firstly it
is great to be back at Lameroo as a player and as a coach. I
thank the club for the opportunity which I have been given as
the coach for 2011. My assistants for the year will be Vaughan
Noonan, Mark Trowbridge who has done a great job thus far in
taking the sessions at Lameroo and Rocket Maynard, who will
be assisting match days.
Pre-season
started early for us this year, we began training in December.
From January onwards we have been training twice a week, Monday
& Wednesday, with healthy numbers both nights. The Lameroo
players have been training at Telstra Oval whilst the Adelaide
guys have rotated in-between Flinders Park Football Club and
West Beach Softball grounds. Due to the amount of our guys based
in Adelaide for either work or study, we have incorporated a
session at Tailem Bend Oval once a month to enable both the
Lameroo & Adelaide based players to train together. This
will continue throughout the year and will assist us in improving
as a team.
New
Players which have come to the club this year include Vaughan
Noonan (Whale), Dan Wohling returning from (Nuriootpa), Shane
Agelis returning (PHOS Camden), Joel Lewis (PHOS Camden) &
Ben Moffat (Blyth Snowtown). We welcome these guys and there
partners & families to the club. We hope you enjoy the year
footy wise and socially. We have been lucky to have kept the
bulk of the playing group from last year; this with the addition
of the new guys makes us a very competitive unit. I am expecting
more improvement out of the younger guys again this year; Billy
McNeilly, Travis Hancock & Tom Caulfield have all had good
pre-seasons. Mark Benham & Josh Ridgway are fitter than
ever and even the more senior blokes are looking as though they
have an extra spring in their step. We have set our goals for
the year and we hope to fulfil these as the season progresses.
We have given ourselves the best possible chance to achieve
these goals by the work we have done already, however this means
nothing if we can’t take it out onto the park. We need
to stay committed to each other as a playing group on and off
the field.
I look
forward to the upcoming season, may it be an enjoyable and successful
one for both Football and Netball in all grades.
Go
the Hawks!
